Born in Germany, Prince von Anhalt, the socialite who was adopted into royalty as an adult by Princess Marie-Auguste of Anhalt, is making a bit of a comeback, at least financially. Though disliked in Hollywood because people feel he is part at fault for the demise of his wife, he’s been married to the esteemed Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor for 25 years now. Gabor’s most famous roles came at the highlight of her career in the 1950s: Lovely to Look At and Moulin Rouge. After many supporting roles throughout the 50s, 60s, and 70s, she was memorable as herself in The Naked Gun 2 ½: The Smell of Fear in 1991. Despite an outgoing series of health problems, Zsa Zsa Gabor celebrated her 95th birthday this year. Though their marriage has been far from a fairytale, Anhalt is still by her side and the two continue to support each other.

After being faced with foreclosure, Ahalt took out a $1.5 million dollar loan to pay off his mortgage. With only 11 months left to pay it off, he is more than happy to rent out his mansion in Bel Air as a filming location for an upcoming HBO movie, Behind the Candelabra. Steven Soderbergh, producer of Ocean’s Eleven, is heading up this project.(Soderbergh also produced the famous films Rumor Has It and Pleasantville, among others).

Behind the Candelabra will give viewers a glance into the life of Wladizu Valentino Liberace. The on location filming at Anhalt's home fits in well with Liberace's flamboyant lifestyle. Born in West Allis, WI in 1919, the world-renowned singer was one of the highest paid entertainers in the world. The movie will star Matt Damon and Michael Douglas. Matt Damon’s most recent work includes his role in We Bought a Zoo, The Adjustment Bureau, (2011) and True Grit(2010). The 42 year old Boston native got his first movie role in Mystic Pizza, where he had one line. Michael Douglas had major roles in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009) most recently. His breakthrough role was in The Streets of San Francisco back in 1972.

These famous house guests will not only generate positive publicity for Prince von Anhalt; the $70,000 he will receive from making the deal will potentially save his home and draw attention to the Bel Aire area through on location filming. In a recent article by TMZ that broke this story, Anhalt is pictured next to his wife toasting the deal with glasses of wine and a pile of cash in front of her. Producers plan to shoot in the house for at least 23 days, making it a major location for filming in the movie.
