West Virginia is an underused talent in the filming industry, and is introducing new legislation that will enhance the initiative to produce there.
Dubbed the Mountain State because it falls right in the Appalachian Highlands, West Virginia is famous for its coalmines and logging.
While these industries are essential and can contribute to filming locations, the state has other incentives, including financial ones.
A sales tax exemption is present for spending on tangible goods used in construction of the project, in addition to the exemption on hotel occupancy beyond 30 days.
Labor and in-state expenditures are eligible for a 27% transferable tax credit.
