While the magnificent sights across the state of Alaska are great for filming, there is also no state taxation on sales, income, or lodging.
Legislation signed by Governor Sarah Palin at the beginning of September of 2008 includes a 42% transferable tax credit on all labor, as well as a 30% credit on expenditures within the state. Local cast and crew are eligible for an additional 10% credit. The summertime months bring extended sunlight hours, and production crews and services are readily available for filming in Alaska.
The abundance of lakes and snow-covered mountains provide countless locations for filming. Alaska is bigger than Texas, California, and Montana combined.
A wildlife rich state that is home to half of the population of the national symbol, the bald eagle, Alaska awaits the opportunity to provide more and more filming locations.
